I'm cancelling the Carnival Contest because no one, apart from ~UnicornPhantom submitted anything.

To tell the truth, I had a feeling something like that would happen, it's just like during the Christmas Contest: lots of people saying they are interested, and in the end, the club receiving practically nothing. In this case, really nothing.

I'm sort of disappointed, but I understand that some of you have exams, personal issues, connection troubles or whatnot, but I've decided I won't do a contest again, unless you are the ones asking for it.

Anyway, a big thank you to , who remained true to her word, saying she would draw something, and really drawing something!

So why create a club about Leon you ask? I think you've got a glimpse of the answer: he stars in kickass games, and he's himself a kickass character! My personal reason is that he is my first video game male character ever, and I tell you, when you're thirteen and fending for your life in a city full of zombies, the person out there to protect you matters a lot ^__^!! I didn't create it sooner because I was away from DA for a while *coughtwoyearscough* and when I came back, I wanted to join some clubs, and couldn't find a Leon one O_O so here I am, creating one myself.

Contest

It's been awhile, so how about a new contest? The theme would be "Carnival Leon", what do you think? The point would be to draw Leon in a costume, or a mask, but in a way that we can still tell it's Leon.

Tell me if you're interested. If you are, I'll update a journal with the exact rules.

Now onto this issue's topic!



Valentine Boy

I'm a bit late, but I hope you guys had a great Valentine's Day whether you have a sweetheart or not! Let's not forget it is a day of friendship, as well as a day of love. There is much more to caring for someone than just love ^_^


So what about our dearest Leon?

Let's face the truth, there are lots of evil people fangirls on this planet, and they more than drown us in their sappy fanfictions. For one of their favorite hobbies is pairing up characters together. I'm sure you're aware of that, so let's have some fun, and look at the possibilities together, shall we?



The Main Ones: those you see all over the place, and make "most" sense.


Leon x Ada: Aaah, sweet Ms Wong. The one who actually managed to steal our boy's heart. She can kick your ass hard, but she's really infuriating (just ask Leon). If the makers of the game decide of a canon couple, it'd probably be them. However, there are pros and cons.

Cons: Ada is a spy, she lied to Leon, betrayed him, bitch in the red dress blah blah blah...

Pros: Hmm... ?

Founder's POV: Well, I don't like this pairing. I'm not Ada's biggest fan I'm afraid


Leon x Claire: The girl "Made in Heaven". There are as many LeonClaire fics as there are LeonAda fics, if not more. She is a kickass girl, but unfortunately, she and our boy do not interact much. In RE2 they are separated in the beginning, meet briefly after awhile to better separate again afterwards. Only to reunite in the end, and get separated again in RECV. Another obstacle would be the Burnside kid.

However, in the RE novelizations done by S.D. Perry, she clearly indicates that something might be going on between Leon and Claire.

Founder's POV: I like Claire a lot, if Leon has to end up with someone, I'd want that someone to be her. Because other pairings are just... nah


Leon x Ashley: Ms Graham, the latest female addition to the RE series. People like to pair them up because well, they spend lots of time together, and our boy protects the poor defenseless blonde chick, blah blah blah.

Founder's POV: I don't think it would work out. I'm sorry but I don't like Ashley. She's annoying, and she can't do crap about defending herself. She can't even climb down a damn ladder, so what can you expect of someone like that?


Oddities: those you see once in a blue moon, and quite strange.


Leon x Jill: This is not really possible, as they never meet in the games. But fanfic writers sometime use this idea. Sometimes only, because you should fear the wrath of the Chris x Jill worshippers!

Founder's POV: Jill is a cool gal, so, why not? There's a lot worse than that, believe me...

Leon x Rebecca: People who write this, usually base themselves upon S.D. Perry's novelizations. Those two never meet in the games, but they do in the books.

Founder's POV: Either that, or it's Chris x Rebecca, so I dunno

Leon x Sherry: According to fans, Sherry always had a crush on our boy. So once she grows older, she's ready to get it on with Leon.

Founder's POV: Hmm... no.

Leon x Hunnigan: Suggested in RE4 but probably more a joke than anything

Founder's POV: I don't like Hunnigan, she kept ordering me around when all I wanted was to run free among the crazy villagers

Leon x Luis (or Chris, Wesker, Carlos, Krauser etc): Ah, fangirls who like yaoi/male slash. Anyway, this is very common on the internet, but very improbable in the making of real video games. Sorry to disappoint you.

Founder's POV: Could be funny. Let's wait until the end of the world, and it might happen

Leon x Nemesis: Yes, it exists. Sorry for the disturbing image.

Founder's POV: N/A (I told you there was worse!)

Merry Christmas to everyone! I have seen the 'feuds' the Litmas Contest created, and I hope our Leon Xmas Contest didn't offend anyone. I don't celebrate the religious aspect of this holiday, but rather consider it as a special holiday where you gather with your family, spend some quality time together, share presents, and overall, be happy! I really hope no one felt left aside because it wasn't about Hanukkah, the Winter Solstice etc.

So yes, it might be better if I just said: "Happy Holiday" to you all!

Dear members,

The PBL Club is going to have its first CONTEST!

The theme of the contest is Christmas Leon. Simple, eh? ^_^

Rules

-Who can join? Basically anyone! You can be a PBL Club Member, a PBL Club Supporter, or just someone from outside who likes Leon S. Kennedy!

-Who can vote? However, only PBL Club Members can vote, because I don't want people who submit entries to ask all their friends to vote for them, it's not fair. (I will allow PBL Supporters though, but only those I know of, and for the moment, there's only *Alamus in the case.)

-What should I submit?

The main focus of the deviation has to be Leon in a Christmas atmosphere (duh)

The use of any other major Resident Evil character who has been in a game with Leon is FORBIDDEN. Yep, sorry but as you know, this is a Leon club, so for example, no Claire, Ada, Krauser etc. I will let clubs dedicated to games Leon's been in handle that. However, you can draw Leon with (for example) Chris/ or Marvin Branagh/ or Villager, etc.

No bad taste (i.e. nudity, blood/gore, etc) please! After all, it's for Xmas. Make it viewable for our younger audience!

You will earn an extra vote from me, if you draw either:

-An RE2-ish Leon, or an RE1.5-ish Leon ^_^ (you know, old school Leon )
-Or something humorous involving Dante of Devil May Cry (if you know the story behind RE4) or "The Fog" (enemy of beta RE4)

-When is the deadline?

The deadline for submitting pics will be December 10th. Voting will start on that day, once I upload the sheet with every submissions on it. I won't push it back, because I will announce the winner on December 24th exactly, since it'll have to be up for Christmas. This roughly gives you one month to complete your pic, and then two weeks to vote. (Please try not submitting on the last day, thanks. Remember I don't live in the same country as most of you guys, so if you submit something at the last minute, I may not see it.)

-What is the prize?

Your pic will be the "Featured Deviation" until the next contest. You might also get a gift pic, congratulating you for winning the contest. I haven't decided about who is going to do that, so if someone wants to volunteer, feel free to! If no one wants to do it, by default, it will be a pic by me ^_^

~abyssinian is finally back in business! Sorry it took me so long to get in gear, but what with jetlag, going back to college, being lazy etc, life was sort of hectic for the past 2 weeks.

I promise, the second issue of the PBL Times will come out very soon.

Right now, what I gotta do is:

-Add new members / Reply to notes
-Check on the members, as always ^_^
-Add new art submissions to my "members submissions" folder (I'm starting to upload them now that I'm back)
-Ask to be listed on lots of other "communities/clubs/etc" directories
-Check to see if old members are still following the rules
